Page of Madness is my score for Teinosuke Kinugasa’s 1926 silent Japanese masterpiece. This recording was done live at Lincoln Center’s Walter Reade Theatre by Jon Rosenberg. It was performed by The Transparent Quartet.

The Merry Frolics of Satan (1999/2014) Koch/Asynchronous

This is a studio recording of Johnston’s original scores for eight films by the French master of the fantastic Georges Méliès. It was originally released by Koch Jazz in 1999. It was re-released on Asynchronous Records in 2014 after it had been out of print for a decade. It was performed by the Transparent Quartet.

The Unknown (1994) Avant

This is a studio recording of Johnston’s score for Tod Browning’s 1927 demented classic, starring Lon Chaney and Joan Crawford. It was performed by Big Trouble.
